Meet Nancy Toffolo

Nancy Toffolo, M.S.

Nancy Toffolo, M.S. is the Director of the Forensic Science Online Graduate Program and Instructional Associate Professor

“My goal is to expand upon the exceptional program that has been in existence for more than 20 years while maintaining and improving the high-quality education that our students expect.”

Nancy Toffolo, M.S., an instructor in the University of Florida College of Pharmacy’s online forensic science program for nearly two decades, has been appointed director of the program effective May 9. In her new role, Toffolo will oversee the world’s largest forensic science graduate program, which has been ranked as the nation’s No. 1 online program by multiple organizations.

As the director, Toffolo will lead four forensic science master’s degree concentrations and five graduate certificate programs. She will advise students in the program, teach graduate courses and serve as the point of contact for administrative, admissions and program policy needs.

We are here to help and if students have any questions at all they should reach out. It can be to ask for help on the material or anything at all. We want our students to succeed!

Toffolo brings a wealth of forensic science experience and knowledge to the position. She began as a teaching assistant in the UF online forensic science program in 2004 and later moved into a lecturer role. In 2021, Toffolo was promoted to an instructional associate professor in the UF College of Pharmacy. She also earned a Master of Science degree with a concentration in forensic toxicology from UF.

“My goal is to expand upon the exceptional program that has been in existence for more than 20 years while maintaining and improving the high-quality education that our students expect,” Toffolo said. “We recently added new instructors who are crime lab directors and analysts in forensic labs to offer students first-hand knowledge of what it means to work in forensics. These hires, along with advances in science and technology, will prepare our graduates to excel in their existing careers or help them move forward into a new field.”

Toffolo takes over for Ian Tebbett, Ph.D. a clinical professor of medicinal chemistry, who retired in May. Tebbett helped established the online forensic science program in 2000 and led its expansion into a 15-credit graduate certificate and 32-credit master’s degree program.

“Over my time in the program, I have progressed from a teaching assistant, to lecturer, to senior lecturer and now the program director. Throughout the process Dr. Wielbo and Dr. Tebbett have advised and mentored me so that I feel confident in the new role I now have.
